Christmas Upgrades

Published on 2009-12-27 at 23:25:31 by  Georgi Sotirov

This Christmas brings you a whole bunch of upgrades to the Slackware 13.0 branch. One of them is as hot as it could be – I've built FLTK just minutes after the last stable release (1.1.10) was issued to the public.

I'm using the possibility to wish all the visitors and the users of the site Marry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010! Let it brings us health, happiness and luck! And of course more and more packages and interesting new features.

Enjoy!

SWARET for Slackware 13.0

Published on 2009-09-06 at 18:56:43 by  Georgi Sotirov

The first package on SlackPack for the recently relased Slackware 13.0 is SWareT. The main reason for its realase are the new package formats (tbz, tlz and txz), introduced with the latest Slackware relase. I've patched the original SWareT 1.6.3 release to enable support for these new formats and update the Bulgarian localization.

Enjoy using this excelent tool!

Slackware 13.0 Released!

Published on 2009-09-02 at 08:11:59 by  Georgi Sotirov

After "most intesive periods of development in Slackware's history" the new stable relase Slackware 13.0 is out. It includes completely reworked collection of X packages, major upgrades to the desktop environments, new package formats with much better compression (.txz, .tbz, .tlz), upgrades in the development system, network services and libraries, miscelaneus upgrades. This is the first relase with native support for the 64 bit x86_64 architecture.

You may read the official announcement as wel as the release notes.

Slackware 13.0 comes on 6 CD set or DVD, which you could by from the official Slackware store. The DVD is a special edition dual-sided disc with the 32-bit x86 release on one side and the 64-bit x86_64 release on the other.

No more foo2zjs packages

Published on 2009-01-23 at 00:18:54 by  Georgi Sotirov

Because of copyright issue with the author of the foo2zjs software all the packages on the site have been removed. Rick Richardson owns the copyright on some of the files, that are included in the packages, which is clearly stated in the package's description and in the COPYING file. Nevertheless, he was not kind to grant me the permission to "host" these files and thus I decided, that I better remove the packages instead of dealing with his copyright.

The users of the packages now have to use the manual install described on the official site of foo2zjs and get the copyrighted files with the better tool "getweb".

Enjoy the easiness of use!
