Description Administrator admin 2018-06-14 21:12:50 EEST
This is a task for integration of Samba with LDAP. Asustor ADM requires the LDAP server to support Samba schema in order to allow access of LDAP users to Samba shares.
Comment 1 Administrator admin 2018-06-14 21:14:02 EEST
See https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/samba-ldap.html for information how to install Samba schema in OpenLDAP.
Comment 2 Administrator admin 2018-06-14 21:24:44 EEST
Configure config backend properly ( see http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/slapdconf2.html#Converting%20old%20style%20{{slapd.conf}}(5)%20file%20to%20{{cn=config}}%20format ).

1. Add the following to /etc/openldap/slapd.conf:

database config
rootpw MyVerySecret

2. Restart the LDAP server:

# /etc/rc.d/rc.slapd restart

3. Test access to cn=config

# ldapsearch -x -D cn=config -W -b cn=config

# extended LDIF
#

# base <cn=config> with scope subtree

Install Samba schema:

# ldapadd -x -D cn=config -W -f /usr/doc/samba-4.4.16/examples/LDAP/samba.ldif
adding new entry "cn=samba,cn=schema,cn=config"

Query the new schema:

# ldapsearch -x -D cn=config -W -b cn=schema,cn=config 'cn=*samba*'
Enter LDAP Password:
# extended LDIF
#
# LDAPv3
# base <cn=schema,cn=config> with scope subtree
# filter: cn=*samba*
# requesting: ALL
#

# {5}samba, schema, config

Asustor ADM requires attributes sambaNTPassword and sambaPwdLastSet as I learned in my issue #21825.

For setting sambaNTPassword and sambaPwdLastSet you need a tool like LDAP Admin (see http://www.ldapadmin.org/):

1. Right click on the user and choose Edit entry...

2. Find sambaNTPassword and enter the password hash.

3. Find sambaPwdLastSet and enter the time of last password change as a Unix time stamp (seconds since epoch).

The information could be retrieved in the following way:

# pdbedit -L -w -v | grep -E 'username:|last set:|NT hash'
Unix username: user1
NT username:
Password last set: Mon, 20 Oct 2014 23:46:07 EEST
NT hash : XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Unix username: user2
NT username:
Password last set: Thu, 11 Jan 2018 20:59:01 EET
NT hash : FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

As I do not know how to print Unix time stamp with pdbedit I used https://www.epochconverter.com/ to convert.

With set sambaNTPassword and sambaPwdLastSet for my user I'm still not able to use Samba from my NAS... still no joy :-(
