Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a widely used protocol for monitoring the health and welfare of network equipment (such as routers), computer equipment, and even devices like UPSs. Net-SNMP is a suite of applications used to implement SNMP v1, v2c, and v3, using both IPv4 and IPv6. It includes an extensible agent, an SNMP library, tools to get/set information from SNMP agents, tools to generate and handle SNMP traps, and so on.
This package includes also Perl and Python bindings.
